Specular highlights are the bright spots caused by the reflection oflight bouncing off a shiny surface. The Specular Highlights Gallery is alight box gallery (quite literally a bright spot) outside my home in Billings,Montana. The gallery consists of two 40"x30" lightboxes where I hostsix exhibitions a year, illuminated from noon to 9PM daily. Threeexhibitions are for thematic group shows, while the other three are solo exhibitionsor singular projects.  Look to the rightfor how to apply for a show

I was inspired to start up the gallery by several artists andcontexts I admire… For example, Carlo Pittore (whom I modeled for from2002-2004) ran the Galleria dell' Occhio in the East Village, which was bestknown for its street level display window that exhibited Mail Art from aroundthe world throughout the 1980’s.  Whilestudying in in the Czech Republic, the photographer Pavel Banka (who was my MFA advisor) and the ceramicist Jindra Viková would regale me with stories ofapartment galleries that showed avant-garde artwork that was not welcome inofficial contexts during the Communist era.

While there are varied and diverse artinstitutions and opportunities to show art in the USA in the 21stcentury, one more never hurts!  I’m just getting this project up and running… And am very excited to findartworks that fit this concept, write if you’re interested.
